The Leimert Park Arts Center is a mass-timber cultural anchor that reinforces the neighborhood’s historic identity while positioning it within Los Angeles’ evolving transit-oriented future. Located along Crenshaw Boulevard, the project responds to new metro and bus infrastructure by prioritizing pedestrian access, multimodal connectivity, and sustainable mobility.
The building acts as a civic platform—bridging transit, leisure, and community life—through layered public programs that encourage interaction, visibility, and exchange. Visual permeability and vertical circulation strengthen the connection between street, park, and city, transforming movement into an experiential sequence.
Conceived as both a social and cultural monument, the Arts Center provides space for research, services, performance, and gathering. It amplifies local voices and supports collective expression, offering a place for reflection, creativity, and resilience in the context of contemporary social justice movements. Designed to be accessible from all sides, the project is a visible and inclusive landmark rooted in community, sustainability, and shared identity.
